We provided site planning, schematic design, and design development for a 16-acre beachfront resort including a guest house, restaurant, conference facilities, and 43 residential units. The owner envisioned a layout recalling a sugar plantation. Working with De Haas Architects, we reduced density and reimagined the plan into flexible “casitas” clusters that preserved views, enhanced privacy, and were surrounded by lush landscape. Stormwater was managed through swales, recycled for irrigation, and directed into water gardens visible from a raised terrace at the end of a palm-lined ceremonial drive. Parking was hidden at a lower grade below the terrace, adding topographic interest to the otherwise flat site. The casitas featured three cottages per unit, linked by decks and gardens, with outdoor showers and compact interiors designed around built-in furniture to maximize outdoor living.
