REICHHOLD CENTER FOR THE ARTS
UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS, ST. THOMAS USVI

Our former office, Paradigm Design, led the renovation of the outdoor theater to improve both its operations and image. The first phase upgraded open-air seating and adjacent landscapes. Rather than replace the deteriorated benches with stadium seats, we persuaded the University to preserve the theater’s character by reusing the existing metal brackets and engineering wider, more comfortable certified tropical wood planks. A planting plan was also prepared, though not implemented. In 2017, Hurricanes Irma and Maria heavily damaged the roof, rigging, lighting, and sound systems. With FEMA funding, the University is now rebuilding the facility and updating its equipment to modern standards.
