MORAVIAN AND VETERAN DRIVE

THE REFORESTATION OF LEFTOVER SPACES

PAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION

In 2002–2003, our former office, Paradigm Design, was commissioned by the St. Thomas–St. John Anti-Litter and Beautification Commission to plan and design tree planting along St. Thomas’ main transportation artery, a 1.6-mile stretch from Cyril E. King Airport to the Historic District of Charlotte Amalie. The goal was to create a boulevard effect wherever possible, using roadside medians and available shoulders. We also engaged local business owners to highlight the value of scenic highways for a tourism-based economy and to integrate their unused green areas into the larger reforestation plan.
